The Hatton Schools are located in the western part of Lawrence County, 4 miles south of Al Hwy 157 on Al Hwy 101.  Hatton is a rural, unincorporated community.  There have been 12 grades located in Hatton since the early 1940s.  The present Hatton Elementary School site was selected and the permanent building was started in 1960.  The newest addition, seven classrooms, was completed in 1996.

There are 28 teachers and 22 support staff at Hatton Elementary.  They serve about 400 students in grades kindergarten through six.  The seventh through twelfth grades are located at Hatton High School that is located adjacent to Hatton Elementary.

The building consists of 22 regular education classrooms and one special needs classroom.  The adjoining library and computer lab contain 37 student accessible computers.  The gymnasium and lunchroom are joined to the main building with covered walkways.  The campus also has three permanent structures that house a science lab, art classroom, speech, tutoring and the Indian Education program.
