The graduation ceremony will be held on May 24th at 7:00 pm. The faculty at Lawrence County High School wants you and your parents to know that it is our honor to celebrate this happy occasion with you. The ceremony itself is organized and planned by the senior sponsors, the counselor’s office, and the administration. It is a formal and time-honored occasion, and we encourage all the graduating seniors to be a part of the ceremony. Because of the formality of the occasion, we have a dress code which all the graduating seniors must follow. Failure to comply with this policy will result in not participating in the ceremony.
Dress Code for 2019 Lawrence County High School
- All seniors should order and wear the 2019 cap and gown from Balfour.
- Girls will wear knee-length dresses under their gowns and must wear neutral color dress shoes or sandals.
- Boys will wear white dress shirts and a tie/bow tie that is neutral or school colors with solid khaki or black dress pants (no jeans) under their gowns with brown or black dress shoes or boots (no tennis shoes or sneakers).
There have been instances of non-compliance in the past, and we do not want them repeated. Such violations of the dress code will not be allowed:
Flip-flops/chacos, tennis shoes or sneakers (converse/vans), odd patterned or dark colored hosiery or leggings, blue jeans, loud colored or oddly patterned pants (boys), sunglasses, monogram on cap/gown, adornment of any kind on top of the graduation gown other than the approved honor cords (NHS, Beta, National Technical Honor Society only)
If a senior cannot adhere to this dress code for financial reasons, we can discreetly accommodate him/her with the proper attire if it is brought to our attention. Please let us know by May 3rd if assistance is needed.
The administration at LCHS reserves the right to remove any student from the graduation ceremony if the student is not in compliance with the dress code. Please see Mrs. Speegle or Mrs. Singleton with any questions. We want this event to be as stress free as possible and appreciate your cooperation. Return signed form to your homeroom teacher no later than Friday, May 3rd.
